Chevrolet Volt: First Electric Vehicle NHTSA’s Five-Star Safety Rating
The Chevrolet Volt has become the first electric vehicle getting a five-star National Highway Traffic Safety Andministration’s overall safety rating, becoming the main topic in a few days yesterday. The news comes just weeks after the Volt was appointed by the Institute of Occupational Safety Choose Top Insurance for Highway Safety.
“Safety is a primary consideration for all buyers do not care how powerful a car - gas, electricity or in the case of V,,” said Doug Parks, Volt global vehicle line executive.
Volt comes standard with numerous safety features that help to five star rating, including front, side, knee-and roof-mounted air bags. Volt also comes standard with electronic stability system of General Motors’ StabiliTrak control.
The adjusted NHTSA crash test standards for 2011, including the introduction of new side pole test simulating 20-mph crash into the pole side impact 10-inch-diameter.
